What Is Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarship?

For the first time in Pakistan, Prime Minister Imran Khan and the PTI Chairman announced a special program called the Ehsas Scholarship. Its primary goal is to offer support to 50,000 students belonging to middle-class families who are unable to meet the expenses of their education, which also includes hostel fees. In the coming four years, this program is projected to bring benefits to over 200,000 students.

In Pakistan, going to college is seen as the way to escape poverty after high school. However, only 0.4% of middle-class kids can actually go to college, which is much lower than the national average of 10%. Ehsaas Scholarship Program Phase 1 and 2

In the last 14 years, HEC has given 30,000 scholarships to undergraduates. But now, each year, around 50,000 students in all four provinces get scholarships. To avail of the Scholarship Program, your family’s yearly income should not be equal to or greater than Rs 45,000. Over four years, 200,000 students will get help from this program.

This scholarship covers your entire tuition and also gives you 4,000 rupees ($50) every month. The Ehsaas Scholarship Program now includes public universities in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, and it costs 24 billion euros. The Prime Minister started the first phase of this program on 2nd March to provide scholarships to the students.

Who Are Ineligible For Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarship?

  • If you are enrolled in a self-financed or self-support program, you cannot apply for this scholarship. This program is specifically for students in regular academic programs.
  • Students who are already benefiting from scholarships or financial aid from other sources are not eligible to apply for this particular scholarship.
  • This scholarship is specifically for students who are enrolled in traditional on-campus classes. Students engaged in distance or online learning programs are not eligible.
  • The scholarship does not extend to students attending evening classes with increased tuition costs.
  • Students whose families earn more than 50,000 per month do not meet the eligibility criteria for this program.
  • Ineligible students include those who have substantial financial assets or alternative income sources beyond their education.
  • Students whose families consume more than 300 units of electricity per month are also not eligible for this scholarship.
  • Students whose parent is a government employee is not eligible.

Documents Required:

  • Copy of Applicant’s CNIC or B.Form (if available).
  • Copy of CNIC of Father, Mother, or Guardian.
  • Salary Slip or Income Certificate of Father or Mother.
  • Stamp paper of 50/- rupees (if the applicant is a Mazdoor or Shopkeeper).
  • Duplicates of recent 6 months’ utility bills (e.g., electricity, gas, telephone, or water), if applicable.
  • Copy of the rental agreement (if the applicant resides in a rented house).
  • Duplicates of the most recent fees paid by the applicant and siblings (if applicable).
  • Copy of medical bills or expenditure documents (if applicable).
  • One passport-size photo of the applicant.
  • One picture of the front of the applicant’s house from the outside.

Ehsaas Scholarship Program 2023 Last Date

The Ahsas Scholarship for 2023 has a submission deadline of 31st December 2023. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) will roll out phase II of the Ehsaas undergraduate scholarship program in 2023. This scholarship is intended for students applying to one of Pakistan’s 125 recognized public universities.
